sightings

I went up to the Mahopac library today to see, at almost the last possible moment, the annual exhibition from Fiber Art Northeast. Norma Schlager has posted some of her favorites from the show on her blog as well (scroll down to the posts for Sept 19 and 20). This year's theme was "A Colorful Show" and each work was executed in a monochromatic palette.

I particularly liked two thread-painted works.

a tree study from Barbara Sferra

a lion from Lynda Long

I liked the zest and playfulness of this piece with zippers. I was so captivated, I forgot to write down the name of the piece and of the artist. oof.

And I was surprised to find myself in the show. I haven't been to the meetings in a while and so was shy about submitting for the show, but this is a display of an exchange we did. Fourth row from top, fourth in from the left is one of the hummingbird-on-lace pieces that I made.

And which, co-incidentally, was Stella's debut as a working artist.

The show is up until Tuesday (Sept 27), if you can get there, go.

Ah, Stella! I remember that day. But you don't seem to have been doing much lately. Are you still working on your ribbon installation?
