I have noticed recently, whilst driving all these great distances up and down and around the Hudson Valley and environs, crows. Or maybe ravens, but I think crows.
I have always loved crows. There's a park across the street from my house and one of the big old trees there was a roost tree -- until the West Nile epidemic in 2005. Since then, virtually no crows. But recently, and so very happily, I have begun to see them again.

Last year, I noticed one or two or, at most, three at a time. This year, small flocks. This is a very unscientific sampling, but I am so happy about it. Crows.

Hooray! for crows. And I'm happy that you're happy.
And noticing the birds in a former roost tree in early winter is good, isn't it?
Here too we have very few crows after the devastation from the West Nile virus. I miss them. Our squirrel population however, is happy...
yes, i love crows, too. i think they are filled with spirit. glad they are making a comeback in your neck of the woods.
I adore crows too. Even at 5 o'clock in the morning when they're setting up a ruckus right outside my window.
you should come up and check out our local flock, they are rather noisy, but i enjoy them still...
Yes, i love crows, too! very busy, observant, opinionated birds. And the local flocks here seem to be rebuilding, too, which is wonderful.
Ah, crows! A recent fascination of mine, too.
Here's a book to consider: "Crow Planet" by Lyanda Lynn Haupt. Lovely in its observation of crows and how to see the natural world all around us.
