at long last

Art. Of a kind. Some of you may recall that I'm participating in a sketchbook exchange -- two actually. The first was so much fun, most of us have re-upped for another round despite not been completely done with round one. So this is a page from another of the Round 1 books. (I'm only months behind getting this done and out of the house -- head's up, Katie Jane)

watercolor paper, pastel, mulberry paper,
advert postcard, advert magazine page, gel medium

Now I can start on my book for Round 2 and on my page in the so-lovely-it's scary book that arrived yesterday.

Excelsior.

nice job! it's lovely. I had woodcut print in my room when I was child that I loved and this reminds me of it.

Don't feel bad, I had 3 sketchbooks in my possession at once, felt a tad guilty. This will be the last one. (I better come up with something now.)

wv: snestbac (are you still collecting them?)

Yippee!!! I love this page, Melanie. It looks so fresh and spirited. Can't wait to see it in person.

A bright and lively image considering your recent personal tribulations. I think it's very jolly and lots of fun :o)

wv: 'ecreadvi' from the latin "you eat too much"!

thanks, everyone.
I had no idea where this piece "was going" -- and with all that's been going on, I had to put it aside for a while because I kept thinking "it needs something -- maybe honking big black tire tracks all over...?" And I was uneasy about how the doll chain might go over, but then Brizi said on the new blog that she likes "happy art" so I am much encouraged.

And I am still collecting wv, although my acquisitions have slowed due to general inactivity. But now that I'm getting unchowas, things might be more generally amadily. Vozil.

Reminds me of a kid's song

Life is, over and under and up and down,
sunshine and thunder,
a laugh and a frown.

Maybe corny, but true. And good to remember when we find ourselves in these last few days of winter/first few days of spring. With the flu, pondering mortality...making cheerful art.

Just breathe,

Woo-hoo! And it's a fair bet Brigitte will say something similar. (You should see some of the collaged paintings she's done!)

I'm so glad that you are getting (becoming?) unchowas after the recent blip. Perhaps you may even be egratered (the past participle of my wv egrater, unless, of course, that's a device for cutting hard-boiled eggs!)
