Up on other things, though.
I've been wanting to try making fabric mosaics, and I think I may take advantage of the upcoming FiberArts for a Cause fundraiser to give it a go. Yesterday, whilst flipping through magazines, I had a cheery little idea that involves childlike drawings of houses and bright colors that I think would support a series/edition of 10.
What?
Yes. I did say "colors" and also "bright colors."
Yes, you're in the right blog -- home of the queen of "is this white too . . . vibrant?" Sometimes I even surprise myself.
So anyway, I'm all excited and will now go Act on My Excitement. But I knew you'd want to be the first to know. . .

Ooo, I love childlike drawings of houses and bright colours and yes acting on the excitement is key. And maintaining that excitement is the other key to the door of finishing. (OMG, how bad a metaphor was that? that's why I'm not blogging these days) Make sure to post these creations! can't wait to see them.

It calls to mind Hundertwasser's odd-shaped and bright houses. (I need "bright" as I wrestle with my monotone portrait!)

Love your "copier cosy"!
I must be on the wrong blog - bright colors? LOL I can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm sure it will be smashing.

Ellen, I'm hereby nominating you for one-a-day posting in February. Only 28 posts. You can do it!
I worried -- briefly -- about the house motif being trite and overused, then decided to not worry about it.
Dinah, I had to google Hundertwasser (thanks for the info), but yes -- something like that. I did some drawings with my non-dominant hand. Not that my dominant hand is all that much more skilled, but it was fun to try other-brainedness. I have to ask -- monotone portrait?
Jane, this cat cracks me up on a daily basis. I can't wait to see what I come up with either. Somehow, things always start here and then go . . .

there.

a food, I think, therefore a noun.
Your cat looks hung over from too much catnip indulgence! I'm eager to see how your series comes out...i love the adrenalin rush of inspiration, even when the finished project looks nothing like my original envisioning.

I was thinking of a small bowl? plate? of bronsni for breakfast, but settled for a poached egg!
Melanie, you must be the only person who has NOT been subjected to my "this is so difficult" mantra lately.
My printmaking teacher threw out a self-portrait challenge.Head view to be cut in lino, printed in black on A4 paper. Not impossible, but not easy either!
By the way, looking at Beau, or you sure he wasn't HIGH on toner!

Color???? I love color! Can't wait to see your epiphany! Isn't inspiration great?
quiltcat, actually Beau is the only one of my three that doesn't like catnip. He seems not to know what it's for.
Katie jane, I love color too! White is a color! It's my favorite color, but I thought I'd experiment with being more egalitarian anad let the other ones in for a visit.
Dinah, is the difficulty with the self-portrait more in the "self" or the "portrait" portion of the assignment? I took a quick "express your self" class a while ago and was overcome with flummoxicity (coined word) about "waht is my Self" and how do I express taht?
wv: redranc
not sure of the syllabication -- re dranc or red ranc
what do you think?
I wrote a witty (I thought!) response and Blogger ate it!
Well, drawing is not easy for me, but the anxt stems from it being "me" as subject. I just don't like putting myself out there. Perhaps I need to go back to my theatrical days and cast myself as an artist!
And redranc...hmmm, I think pronunciation may depend on how much red was drank! Seriously, I think it's one of those verb/adjective dualities, like frequent.
today we have: prater
I find calling on my long-ago theater background and doing a "lets pretend" gets me through a remarkably wide array of circumstances.
