Behold, dragon-puss

Sometimes simple things are best.
I was completely stuck for an idea for one of the books in the book exchange and, earlier in the week, decided phooey. Not one of my more high-toned decisions, but it's been that kind of a week. So, phooey, just Do Something already, for pity's sake. So I splashed some acrylic paint, folded the page over, brayered it to a fare-thee-well, and opened it up again. Not bad, thought I, but it needs something. Uncharacteristically, I let it sit overnight until the paint was completely dry, then splashed in some orange, repeated the folding/brayering, and . . . am sufficiently tickled with the result to feel comfortable passing it along. (Heads up, Katie Jane.)

Maybe I won't learn to paint with all those scary fiddly little brush thingies. Maybe I'll just splash and roll.

ooh, Melanie! This looks terrific. Today, Heather is off at an abstract workshop. Wait til she this when she gets back!
Sometimes, the 'phooey ' moments have the best results!

Splash and roll...I love it! Ok, in the world of sychronicity I've played with the idea of doing this on fabric (yes I have - really) as the base for an art quilt. We should do a challenge.

Cool, I was just hypnotized having a Rorschach moment.

Playing with paint is the funnest thing ever! Good for you to let loose, I'm still holding onto to one sketchbook, worrying about what to do, I should take a cue from you and just go for it.

This was just flat-out beginner's luck. I've been noodling around with some paint and the brayer tonight and have some fairly ugly things that I may post next week.

Thanks for the enthusiasm everyone, it's good to be back.

I LIKE splash and roll!! This is so vibrant and exciting! I can't wait to see in live. Sometimes just going with the flow makes the best art. Less contrived and more spontaneous. I love it.

like it a lot... splash and roll gets my vote over fiddly brushes any time of day (or mood) :)
