give voice

I watched a couple of Christmas specials and that got me to thinking. . .  there are so many songs for the various religiously derived holidays, but there are very few for the very secular New Year's. I can only think of one -- "Auld Lang Syne." Not exactly a roof-raiser.

And so I thought maybe "When You Wish Upon a Star" from the film Pinocchio might serve. Also not roof-raiser, but such a lovely sentiment. With or without carbonated wine.

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Glad to catch up. Loved your fine words about that week between Christmas and the New Year.
I remember playing "When you wish....." Over and over as a girl. It was a little red vinyl record. I think it was Sung by Shirley Temple. Today I listen to Judy Collins' version over and over too.
